Alexa Plus, Smart Homes, and Amazon’s New Tablet

Jen 2 joins David Pierce to discuss a year of testing Alexa Plus and how Amazon is extending its assistant across smart-home devices and new hardware. Their conversation looks at what Alexa Plus can do today, where integrations remain limited, and how Amazon’s approach compares with Apple’s emerging smart-home plans.

- Alexa Plus in the home: conversational controls, voice-created routines, device integrations, and examples involving lights, laundry, and Ring cameras
- Amazon’s hardware strategy: the new Alexa tablet and how it could bring personal context to the assistant
- Smart-home trade-offs: privacy, cloud services, local processing, and the challenge of connecting different services
- The discussion focuses on product capabilities and strategy rather than a hands-on review of the tablet.

For people considering a smart-home setup or following voice assistants, this conversation offers practical examples to help assess which tasks Alexa Plus can handle. Viewers can use the points raised to identify their own needs and check device and service compatibility before choosing a system.
