CNET Video Summaries

CNET Labs continues its multi-day live stream of an iPhone Duo durability test, running the folding phone continuously on a custom folding machine called the Foldhone. By day four the counter passes 121,000 folds, and the hosts report live on the phone's condition while answering viewer questions about methodology, results, and the test setup.

■ Test methodology and how it differs from earlier torture tests
- Why the test was changed to a slower, more repeatable cadence approximating real-world use
- Clarification that the results will not be compared against past folding-machine tests
- Details on speed, temperature control, charging limits, and how the phone is mounted
- The opening filament, the anchoring side, and the unexpected placement of the USB-C port

■ Live observations on the phone
- Counters and milestone check-ins throughout the stream
- Behavior of the inner display, including screen redraw timing and a reported software issue
- The hinge's stiffness, the crease, and closeups of the phone open, closed, and with the screen off
- Note that no heating issues or screen damage were observed at this stage

■ Viewer Q&A and upcoming testing
- Questions on sound from the hinge, crease depth, fold counts per day, and expected lifespan
- Plans to run other foldable phones through the same machine and methodology
- Context on the hosts' backgrounds and how the live stream schedule works

■ Closing segment
- Second and third hosts join on camera to take final questions before ending the day's stream

This is useful for anyone considering a foldable phone, or who wants to understand how a continuous, real-world-style durability test is designed and run. Watching gives a concrete sense of how such a test is set up, what is and is not being measured, and how the phone's display and hinge behave after more than 100,000 fold cycles, without requiring any technical background.
